Jinny Beyer

Last Thursday at the Pride of the Prairie guild we were treated to an evening with Jinny Beyer.  When I first started quilting, she was THE name and most famous quilter in the quilter's world.  Her lecture  was about color theory.  We did a couple of exercises using her color palette  to see color gradation and how they work together.

When she creates her quilts, she can have up to 25 color variance in  her palette.  All of these colors can be in one quilt.

Look at all the wonderful shades in this quilt.

Here is the quilt she created in remembrance of 9-11.  She had a friend on board the plane that flew into the Pentagon. The center motif which is the Statue of Liberty represents her friend.

It is not the greatest picture, but here is her remembrance quilt. It is beautiful and such a lovely tribute to her friend.  There were a lot of guests in spite of the bad weather warning.  It was so nice to meet one of the quilting legends.
