Sandwich Fair

Dad and Andy beside some really tall corn.
This year I entered 18 items in the fair. Took them over on Labor Day. The fair opened on Wednesday. As we were going to Washington DC on Thursday, we had to check it out on Wednesday. What a surprise. I had 5 blue ribbons, 5 red, second place, and 2 third place. I could not believe I did so well!!! Now to start working on next years projects. Would sure like to get a purple again. What you work toward!!!!!

We had a great time. Andy and I checked out the rabbits. There was one in "time out". The lady said that every cage she put him in, he chased the other bunnies. She had him in a cage on the ground. The stinker figured a way out and was starting to hop outside the cage. I picked him up, as he was pretty little.

Andy and I had "Fays" pork chops and chicken for lunch. Dad and Ron had phillie cheese stakes. The food is so good at the fair. Good grease!!!! Great weather, fun day.

Now it's time for my show and tell

I have been checking out other blogs related to quilting and vintage arts. WOW!!!! These ladies keep right up to date. I just do this once in a while, when something exciting is happening in my like. Maybe it is time to write more.
There is a challenge going on through the Stash Club at Prairie Stitches in Oswego, Il. Use the stash. How many yards of fabric can be used out of the "stash" by October, 2009. Plus I had made it my personal goal to work on UFO's and kits by then. I have been keeping a journal of sewing. I have one Basket quilt top done, but it is not at the quilters (Quilting by Marlene) yet so I can't count it.

I have made 69 pillowcases from the stash. I will donate them to a women's shelter, as they are not kid like to be donated to Conkerr. These really are more feminine. I used up fabric that I have had for over 30 years. All name brands at that time. Amazing!! And the kicker is, I have a lot more I can use!!!

I have kits from the clubs that are ongoing from Prairie Stitches, so have been working on them. Plus there is kits that I have accumulated through the years. There are patterns I have wanted to try, things I have seen that I said "I can do that". Well I have, about time. Needless to say this is just the tip of the iceberg. This means I have completed 38 other projects. Yea for me!!
