My Blue Heaven and 8 tons of pennies

My Blue Heaven is finally done and on the bed!  When we bought this house 5 years ago, we painted the wall behind the bed a right royal blue.  The idea was to make a quilt for our bed to go with it.  I had a vision of what i wanted, and cut lots and lots of triangle.  I originally was going to add purple, but some how it just did not work.  The triangle sat in a box until last year when I finally decided it had to be made.  I am so pleased with how it turned out.  It has a long drape on the sides and top and bottom.
It is always so nice to sleep under a new quilt.

This Saturday there is going to be a coin auction in Naperville. Ron wanted to check it out because there is going to be 8 tons of pennies up for auction.  No not 8 pounds, I mean 8TONS of pennies.  There was a collector that had these.  Each of the bags that Ron is holding weights a little over 34 pounds.  

There is 5 sets of platforms like this one.  Each row has a set of "logs" 5 wide totaling  150 and 60 cinder blocks to hold the weight.  Now people think we as quilters hoard fabric, I think this takes the cake for hoarding!  No wonder it is hard to find pennies!  There is 5000 pennies in each bag. I told Ron it would be okay if he brought me one of those bags on Saturday.
Imagine how much fabric we could have for this.  I can see the wheels turning!
