What a fun day!

Plano, IL  aka Smallville. The hometown of Superman!  This is one of the building that was used in the Man of Steel movie that came out this summer.

Andy, my son and I went to the Sandwich Fair today in Sandwich.  It is the last fair of the season.  We had a fun time.  Hamburgers, steak sandwich, french fries, water and to top the dining pleasure, homemade chocolate eclairs!  The eclairs are the best.  So much filling in them.  They just melted in your mouth.
Andy needed to be back home, as he was going out tonight.
My husband had heard there was to be a hot air balloon launch at 6:00 tonight.  We like to see them, so back to the fair we went.  We got there at 5:50 and the one and only balloon was in the air!

It landed not too far away in a subdivision that had a wonderful open area.

After they landed, Bennett Schwontkowski, the captain (he is the one in the white shirt with the green and blue sleeves) asked those that were standing around if any would be interested in a tethered ride.  My hand shot up so fast!  I got to go up!!

My husband was kind enough to take the pictures.  This is the same person I got to go up in a hot air balloon on Mother's Day 2010.

No fear.  Even a tethered ride is better then no ride!

Oh, it was so neat!

I really don't know how many feet we went up.  I was listening to everything that Bennett had to say.  He was telling everyone about how the fuel heats the air to make the balloon rise, and then what had to be done to bring it back to the ground.

I was grinning ear to ear.  Can you tell????

It was a fun day!

Ahhhhhh it sure sounded like a wonderful day...one anniversary, we did go up in an air balloon. We were up for 30 minutes...we could hear kids in the schoolground perfectly...the view was sooo specatucular....we landed in a farmers field. I thought it odd when our captain brought out a bottle of wine to thank them for a great pad lol
Your ballon was gorgeous...nothing like the fall to remind us how lucky we are be so adventurous.

Tethered rides mean softer landings. That's my kind of ride. My FIL has a balloon, but he needs to get better at landing before I go up.
What a beautiful day you had. Thanks for sharing.

How much fun! We used to go watch the balloons at Fiesta, when we were in Texas. I loved going to the 'glow' in the evenings.
