See You in September

"See You In September" is our latest hop.  We were to use gingham in at least one project this summer, and show what else we did.  It all started when Madame Samm found out that Riley Blake was going to discontinue their gingham line. She started a campaign to make sewers aware of gingham!  (It has now been found out that they are not going to let all of it go.)  Shari of Living with Purpose has been our cheerleader. She and Madame Samm have done an outstanding job on keeping us on task for this hop. Here is today's lineup that I am pleased to share with.
Please don't forget to give them all a shout out.  There has been an amazing group of quilters showing us what they can do with gingham during this hop.

This how I used some of my gingham.  I thought a new hat was in order.

Some of you know I love to make cards.  Here are two gingham cards using the iris folding method.

I loved making these.
While I was on the retreat this past week, I made this apron.  It is a gingham background with cherries all over it.

We did a bit of traveling to this summer.  While in the car, I like to have  handwork to do.  I made all of these dime sized yo yos. for this miniature quilt.  It is a " Little Red Button " pattern.

Also, finished this little runner.
Can you tell I was into small this summer.  Here is a little hexie quilt.  It is part of a seasonal series that was created by one of the local quilt shops.

As I said, I finished up 7 small projects.  I think I have all the seasons covered here.
Here is some of the gingham I have collected. I have several more ideas for uses of these great gingham's. You can never have too much!

It has been a great summer for sewing and handwork. I hope you had a great summer as well.
Mary

Love your hat and those cards and that apron and those yo-yos, well I really like every little project you made. A summer of traveling requires a bunch of little projects. You finished a whole bunch of them!

some great projects here you have been busy. I steer away from gingham, have enough problems trying to keep stripes straight gingham would be a nightmare for me, hopefully I will improve with practise and them maybe the gingham will have a go with me!

LOVE the hat! It is incredible! All your projects are great. You did a lot this summer! I cannot understand how people can sew in the car....I can't get a stitch right. Well, unless we are at a traffic light! Thank you for sharing.

Oh what wonderful projects! I love your mini with the dime size yo yos. I can't imagine stitching something that small. What a gorgeous array of ginghams!

Mary, I think you do have all the seasons covered as well as your head. I adore all your projects. When I had a spouse, I loved to do projects in the car - particularly cross stitching or knitting. My second husband loved to see me craft anywhere. My first husband was such a controller that he wanted to control what I did. He thought I should be changing the CD in the car at the instant it went around and he thought I should be looking at the scenery even though we had been over that same route many, many times. I wanted to stitch and enjoy that. It was a constant battle and I couldn't enjoy whatever I did in the car. I am elated that you accomplished so much this summer. Thank you for participating in the hop and sharing your wonderful accomplishments. You brightened my day.

Oh That Hat!! It almost looks like houndstooth which is SO popular in the state of Alabama due to the late Coach Bear Bryant who wore a houndstooth hat similar to your hat. Men & women wear these hats to the game. Your retreat looked so relaxing and I must say that picture with the grasshopper in the air is pretty spectacular. You should enter that in a photo contest...such as your local paper. I know we have a photo contest in our local paper plus the local TV channels ask for pictures such as this. You MUST enter this somewhere!

I am relieved to hear that RBD will not be discontinuing all their gingham. The hat is really cute. Reminds me of all the matching hats I made years ago for my daughter and me.
