Racine Quilt Retreat

What a great week we had.  Thirty quilters enjoyed fun, friendship and lots of sewing.
Sunday our day to head home. We woke to a beautiful day.
I had to take one last walk on the beach.

Everyday the little creek that runs through the property out to Lake Michigan changes. The waves from the lake had washed stones up to the mouth of the creek.

There were lots of rocks and pebbles on the beach this morning.

Came across this doe and her fawn in a little garden area.  They did not seem frightened of me. Posing quite freely.  The fawn still has some of its spots.

I did accomplish a lot off my UFO list.
This is the last mini tumbler quilt in the four season series put out by one of the local quilt shops.
Start to finish in an evening.

This was a Sharyn Craig workshop I had taken in February, 2008.  It was one of the last workshops she did before she retired.  I had a lot of the blocks done, but never finished it.  Made more blocks, and put it together.  Had pieces cut out, and had moved it around a bunch in my sewing space.  I will add borders and it is done!

Pattern name is Plumeria.  I have been wanting to use some of the Hawaiian fabric that I have collected, and this pattern was appropriate.  I had made the flower blocks, so just had to sash and border  it.  I am loving how this one turned out.

Had this flag tumbler kit for several years and had brought it along.  Put it together on Saturday evening.  I like how it turned out.

This Bonnie Hunter freebie pattern "Sister's Choice" had been started in February 2010. I had 12 blocks done then.  Now it is 35 blocks and ready for borders. It is all scrappy.  Done with 2 1/2 squares and strips.

Finished putting this apron together.  I had had it started and just needed to finish it up.  Done!

Look how calm the lake looked on  Sunday.  Quite a change from what it had been earlier in the week.
It was a perfect day.

Here is the light house in Racine.  It is in a beautiful setting.
I had such a great week.  Had to get home, but sure would not have minded staying a few more days.  I was just getting started!  Amazing what you can get done, when meals are cooked for you, you don't have interruptions from phone and family, you can go to your room whenever.  If you wanted to eat, you did have to adhere to their schedule for meals.
There are lots of places to visit, even a couple of quilt shops in the area.  We are never at a loss for obtaining fabric.
