Pillowcases for the Sisters

It was decided at our Spring retreat that it would be fun for everyone to make at least 3 pillowcases for the sisters here at the Siena Retreat Center, where we are holding our retreats.

Kathy is our organizer.  She set up one of the conference rooms with chairs and put at least 3 pillowcases on each chair for the sisters to choose from.

We had 100 cases made.  There are 61 resident sisters.

Here we are.

After dinner that evening, we each stood behind a chair, and the sisters came in to choose their pillowcase.

They could not believe that we would do that for them.

They were so pleased that we had thought about them, by making the cases.

They had such fun walking around and choosing, and talking with us.

The group then sang a thank you song to us, and blessed us.
There was not a dry eye among us.
While we are at the retreat the sisters always like to come and see what we are working on.
It was only fitting that we give back as well.
Smiles all around.

what a lovely thing to do and especially so as nuns do not normally have any possessions

How wonderful! That's a lot of pillowcases and a sweet gesture of thankfulness.

This is just the sweetest thing to do...I love this idea! I'd never made a pillowcase until last week and now I'm hooked on making them.

What a lovely thing for your group to do. I'm sure they will cherish them forever and think of you kind and thoughtful ladies when they use them.
