Happy New Year and one last lighted house

Happy New Year
May this be a blessed, happy and healthy year for everyone.

One last lighted house.
This is the Larson home in Elburn Illinois.
It won the $50,000 in the Great Light Fight that was on television this year!
We had heard that they were going to enter. We just happened to be watching the night they won.

The house is out in the country, so there are not obstructions.
This year they did create a parking lot to get some of the cars off the road.
They have two programs, each lasts about one hour.  If you go one night you will see only one, the next night you would see the other program.

This display has been going one for several years.
Each year he adds  more lighted structures as different types of displays..
It is all synchronized to holiday music.

There are over one million lights.

This year the two turquoise colored bands were added.  They are a series of tubes  that have lights in them. They change color and have a series of  graphics that also are part of the light show.

We did stay for about an hour to see one cycle of the show.
In our paper, it said that last year on Christmas Eve alone,  there were over 800 cars that came by to watch the show.
I was sitting in the car taking these pictures.  Baby, it was cold out side.

This is definitely on our must see each year.
We did wait to see it until Monday night.  The lights go on at 5:00. We arrived just before the show started.
You can tune your radio to 88.5 while you are in the area and listen to the show.
Until next holiday season for light shows.

Now back to sewing.
I have been working on all those small projects I showed the weekend Ron was gone. I have made a quilt for the Kona Hop that is starting on the 7th of January.
I almost have my project done for the hop in February, and just got the pattern for the second hop in February.  I have been busy.
Today it is snowing and blowing a great day to get the sewing machine running.
Enjoy your first day of the new year.

what an amazing site, glad I am not picking up the electric bill though! It must take weeks to put it all up but I expect it comes down much quicker. The prize money will come in handy for more to be added next year

I love looking at those houses, but I can't even imagine having the energy to set them up and take them down. Thank goodness there are people willing to do it so we can enjoy their beauty. :O)

I'm not surprised they won; it looks fabulous. They're probably retired electrical engineers, or something. lol It makes me tired just think of all that work to put it up and take it down, though.

Thanks for sharing,
