Off to see the sights

One stop for Linda and I was the Maine Beer Company in Freeport.
How better to decide what beer you would like then to
order up a flight.  For those that are not aware of what that means,
You pay a flight price, $10.00 and can sample in this case 4 different beers.

We got to sample, lunch, dinner, peepers and mean old Tom.
The mean old tom was Linda's.  It was made of coffee, dark chocolate,
and aged on vanilla beans.

We did let them pick them out for us.  We liked all of their choices.
Blue Jay outside the kitchen window.

I think he was looking for acorns.
First stop on our trip for the day, Red's Eats.
Lobster was going for $22.00 a pound.
This please has been featured on "Diners, Drive In's and Dives."
It is said to be the best place for Lobster Rolls.
Ron is not a seafood lover, so the hamburger, which is hidden by the Lobster Rolls,
is on the right! The most expensive lunch as there is at least a pound of lobster on
each sandwich.

There is a small patio on the backside where you can take your food
once you receive it.  These people are waiting after they had placed
their order.

Linda captured me bringing our tray.

In the summer the line is long, but well worth the wait.
This day our line wasn't too bad.

There were a couple more lobster shacks a cross the street.  Most of these will be closed
for the season soon.  In fact, Red's closed the next weekend after we were there.

Here is my sandwich.  I have to say it was the most delicious lobster roll.
I enjoyed every last bit!!

Then we were on to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens,
in Boothbay. This flower is about 6 inches tall.  It reminds you
of a thistle, only a giant one!  It was gorgeous.

The pictures do not do this place justice.  It was our only gray day, and
the setting was beautiful.  This was the children's garden.  We did not
get to cover it all. A child would have a fun time. There was so much
to see in this space.
There was even a lilac in bloom.

The all of the gardens was decorated for fall.
I think this person was taking a short rest break.

The stream still have water lilys in bloom.  It was strange, as it was not a warm
and sunny.

Linda found a friend to talk too.

A painted lady butterfly was taking a rest break.
Loved those zinnia's.

Ron was not so sure about the person hanging from the windmill.

The red leaves were so pretty.

Ron said stand by the whale rock.

He didn't say it was going to spout!!

Check out these sweet peas.
I love that color.  Who knew they come in a variety of colors.

This little guy was enjoying his berry.

It had rained there earlier in the day.
The lambs ear was so pretty with the raindrops.

Hydrangea was still blooming.  Such a pretty blue.

Another area in the garden.

Linda and Jim resting before we explored more.

On our way home we passed a group of scarecrows at the bus stop.

More of those scarecrows waiting.

On our way back home, we saw one of the latest Navy ships being built at the Bath
Iron Works.  Not sure what this will be used for.  It was interesting looking.
Another day of fun was behind us. Not as much sun, but that did not
dampen our spirits.  After all we had lobster rolls.  How can you beat that?

More adventures to come.

We went to Maine, 10 years ago, for our 20th Anniversary. The flight attendants told us to stop at Red's Eats for lobster rolls. Well worth it. We ate them on a picnic table down by the water. Hubby and his dad waited in line for 30 minutes for our food.
