I'm back!

Here it is the start of our week long adventure!  I have been on a quilting cruise, sponsored by Quilt Seminar at Sea. We were going to be having classes as we headed to the Western Caribbean.  We sailed out of Ft. Lauderdale on Holland America's Nieuw Amsterdam.  We left port on time a bit after 4:00 on Sunday February 10.

Each teacher had a selection of classes they were going to teach during our week in the Caribbean.  I chose  a mystery class with Kimberly Einmo, and a hand applique class with Mary Sorensen.  There were 67 quilters and guests.  We received our schedule of events for the week, were introduced to our teachers and had a get together to get acquainted.
As I was looking around the room, I saw one quilter that looked familiar. Are you ready for this, she was from the Prairie Star Quilt Guild, I belong to in St. Charles, Illinois.  Who knew!!!  Our hostesses gave us a roster of who we were sailing with. As I looked through it found there was another quilter from Oswego, Illinois. Now what are the chances of that.  We did meet up and had not been aware of each other.  It is truly a small world.

Ron and I had dinner up on the Lido deck.  As always the food was wonderful.  They do have a practice of not letting us server ourselves for 48 hours. This is a precaution, to not spread germs.
The weather was warm and beautiful as we sailed through our first night.

When I arrived at our cabin, this is what I found.  Needless to say we could always locate where it was!

My wonderful husband had arranged to have these flowers in our room  on arrival for my birthday on Wednesday.  I was so surprised.  He got hold of Holland America, all on his own, to find out how to do this. He did not have our booking number or any real reference to this trip, as he was not the one to arrange it, I had.  He proved to be very resourceful.

Now that I am back, I need to pick up my sewing machine.  I had dropped it off to be cleaned and serviced while I was gone.  It is ready to start humming again.

Until tomorrow, have a great day!

Mary

Sew glad you had a good time. Also glad that you weren't on the Carnival Triumph (my son was last Spring). I'll enjoy hearing who else was on the cruise from here.
