Retreat in Racine, Wisconsin

Thursday at 4:00 was check in time for Pride of the Prairies Annual Fall Retreat at the Siena Retreat Center.  It is run by the Dominican nuns in Racine, Wisconsin.

The Center is in a beautiful setting overlooking Lake Michigan.

Everyone brings all sort of things for use at their sewing space.  We could unload at the back of the wing where we are going to sew and sleep.

The cars, vans and trucks were loaded with sewing supplies. They brought machines, tables, boards, rulers, and of course fabric.  Lots and lots of fabric.  There was at least one fabric stop by most of use in Racine on our way to the retreat.

Here is Linda setting up her working space.

Getting ready to sew!

One project completed by Jan on our first night.  She had gotten the free pattern from Kim Diehl's website.  It is a Quilted Holiday Hanger.  I think she had 6 in the works.  Everyone was trying to con her out of these.

Dinner was served at 5:30.  We had a long walk to the dining room. Sister Mary was our hostess for the evening. She led us to dinner and let everyone know sthe rules for staying there.  The view from our work room was so nice.  After dinner we continued to get settled and to start sewing. Some started to head for bed about 10:30.  I heard one quilter was up until 2:00 am.

More tomorrow.
