Feb 19 another airboat ride

I forgot, we did do one more thing before we left Florida.
We went on another airboat ride.

This one was way different then the one we took down in the Everglades.

Here is our chariot for the ride.  This time we were close to the ocean.

This is an island were a group of monkeys live.  They don't swim, so are kept safe from preditors.

One our way, there is a channel to navigate.  The airboats must keep a slow speed while in it.
As soon as we were out of there, he speeded up and took us through reeds and mangrove tunnels.

Because boats can use these channels too. there are markers for craft to go out toward the ocean, and
coming back.  The navigation rules applied in this area, and must be respected. The birds see fit to
build nests wherever there is an available platform.

Again, I got to see a majestic Bald Eagle.

We are heading out to the ocean.
The view was awesome.  It was a day, where you could not divide the sky from the water.
Here a cormorant is drying his wings.

Can you believe this!  Those are small mangrove islands you see in the distance.

Here it was hard to see the difference between the sky and the ocean.
If it weren't for the small island out there, you could not tell.  It plays with
your scenses.

A flock of white pelicans flew across our line of vision.

This too was an awesome sight.
Our captain took us quite a way out.  The water was just like glass.
We stopped in an area  to watch the fish.  Surprisingly, he told us the water was not very deep.
He said you could walk in it, but it probably would be pretty muddy. You would sink.

Here we are!

He knew where there was a pod of dolphins. Oh wow!!
They came right up to our boat and swam around us.
Not everyday you get to see them.

Up close and personal.

Even on this ride we got to feel the spray of the water.
I grinned the whole time out there.
What an amazing experience.

The scenery was amazing as well.

Could not get over the Great Blue Heron's and their habitat.

Here is the island that the monkeys live on. They have their own house and
swings to play on.
This was another great adventure.  Another item off my bucket list.
It was a great vacation. Our last day of adventures in Florida. Next stop
was Gainesville to stay for the night, then on to Atlanta to meet up with Lyn and Tom
for dinner.
