Ketchikan, it is almost over

Our last stop in Alaska, was Ketchikan.
Another quaint town.
All of these towns are populated by tourist from May until end of September.
Once the cold weather sets in, none of the cruise ships dock any longer.
There are not roads from the lower 48 to these towns.  They depend on the cruise ships to income, cargo and plans for food and supplies.
The towns are built on the side of mountains.
One interesting fact is there are stairways from the bottom of the mountains up to the residences.
These stairways are actually considered streets and are cleaned by the public works department.
We did not see many garages either.
Can you imagine walking up and down those stairs for everything.

Pat and friend!

More mountains.

Many native Indian symbols are all around.

The statue is depicting the different eras of the area.

Pat

We had just had a bite to eat after we got back on the ship.
Time to be shoving off to our last stop.

One last shot of Ketchikan.

Hard to believe our trip is almost over.,
We are not ready to leave.
Mary
