Alaska Adventures

This is Stevii Graves, teacher extraordinaire.
Because of a bit of rearranging, I was fortunate enough to take all of my classes with Stevii.
She is a very interesting lady and was a great teacher.

Formal night,
Pat and Tina, on the left,
Myself and Judy on the right.

Here is the sample of the Attic Windows class that Pat was going to take.

You never knew which animal you were going to meet when you entered your room.
Tonight we were Monkeying around!
We did attend a show one evening.
Wow!  They stirred up the crowd, literally.  Everyone was given a pot or pan and a drum stick when we entered.
While the 4 guys were putting on their show, we could all keep the beat with them.
What a lot of fun.

In Sitka, we got to test our glass blowing ability.  Here is Pat working on hers with the help of our instructor.

On to a Raptor Center that helps  birds like this eagle, Volta, recover from injuries it sustained in the wild.
Volta, has been with them for over two years.  He could not be re-released back into the wild. So he has become their raptor in residence.

What a magnificent bird.  You can just feel the power, and see the beauty of this creature.
It is not every day you can get this close to an eagle.

Of course he got to visit another quilt shop.  I think we all did a bit of damage at each one.
Most of the shops are participating in the Row by Row Experience, so several of us were picking up patterns
and or kits to work on when we got back home.

Pat and I did take a look in the St. Michael's Cathedral.
There is a lot of Russian influence everywhere.
This Cathedral has a lot of artifacts.

Here is the front outside of the Cathedral.
I think this is one of the smallest ones I have ever seen.

Foxglove grows wild in Alaska.
I can't get it to grow at home.  Look how big it grows.
I had Pat stand along side for comparison.  Pat is a little over 5 feet tall.

One more wonderful day in Alaska.

It is hard to believe that we were just starting out on this adventure a month ago.

What a fabulous trip you had, Mary! That cathedral was gorgeous! I love to visit churches whenever I travel to a different place and attend Mass if possible while I'm there. Alaska is on my wish list...someday!
