Some of the cherry trees have started to bloom.
The pink magnolias were beginning to open up. The yellow ones still have a way to go.
Star magnolia's were in full bloom.
We saw several pairs of bluebirds. Here is a female. There have nesting boxes set up in some areas.
I did take my umbrella out to add a bit to some pictures
The trees are so pretty. The crab apples have not started to bloom yet, but are coming along.
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher. This bird is only about 4 1/2 inches. In the trees it looks even smaller.
Can you believe all these daffodils. I am in love. Daffodils are my favorite spring flower. The yellow can be so vibrant. There are so many varieties to enjoy.

Mary, you know I spent four years in Evanston at Northwestern and never once managed to make it to the Morton! I keep meaning to go, but it seems like whenever we are in Chicago we don't have the time. Your pictures are so lovely that I am going to try to make it a priority from now on.
On the other hand, Larry & I have spent the last week in Scottsdale, AZ and have been hiking through some absolutely gorgeous desert scenery. We have been here many times, but have only just started hiking. It was such a treat to discover that one of our favorite places has so many interesting places to hike. The saguaros are in full bloom (only takes them 50-70 years to get started). I'll have pictures on the blog after we get home.
I'm SO glad you like to share so many terrific pictures!
Take care,
Susan in Texas
What beautiful pictures, Mary! Isn't it amazing how something as simple as a flower can make our hearts soar after a long winter!
