T'was the night

Today is my day to share my lovely gifts from Pauline Francis of Quilt-N-Queen.
This lady has outdone herself.  I could not believe all the lovely gifts she showered me with.
When I opened the box, they just kept coming and coming.

Here they are all together.  It was like she had been visiting at my house.

For my kitchen, She made me the wonderful potholder, trimmed a towel and made the cutest dish soap cover. The green scrubbie, which I love using, and don't make myself, is super. The little cheese crown is adorable.  (had to figure that out.)  You make your cheese ball, and adorn it with the Christmas tree topper.  The teddy bear ornament is right up my alley as well.  I have collected teddy bears for years.  You notice there was a whole theme going on there with my kitchen items.

She did not stop at the kitchen.  She went on to make a cute needle holder and little thread and scrap wastebasket. There is a super Christmas pattern to work on, needle grabber ( she must have known how sore my fingers are with all the handwork I have done lately.) The jar with red embroidery floss in it is from Canada, which is where she and her husband are originally from. The towel she embroidered and crocheted the edging on.  She even gave me a copy of the pattern she used.
I still can't believe all the wonderful things she sent.
Pauline, thank you once again.  I love everything, and all are being put to use as I write.
When Marlene was organizing this hop, one of the things she had listed was to make a wall hanging.  Well, I did not keep to the quick idea. (Must have missed that in the instructions.) I wanted to make Kathy of Kwilty Pleasures this little wall hanging.  I have had the pattern and loved the idea of decorating it with sewing decorations.  Then to finish it off, I decided to hand quilt it.  I love it how it turned out. I think I will make one for myself.

Thank you Madam Samm and Marlene for organizing this wonderful hop. I have had the best time. Please say hello to the lovely ladies I am sharing this day with.  I know they have all been hard at work creating gift ideas to share.

Wednesday, Nov. 19

I love to do handwork, and last Tuesday had cataract surgery on my right eye.  That evening I sat in my big easy chair, and with the help of my Beam N Read light was able to get right back at it. Ladies, that is the coolest thing.  I am scheduled for surgery on my left eye on the 25th of November.  I am so excited.  I cannot remember ever waking up in the morning and being able to see without glasses.  I have worn glasses or contact lenses since I was in 2nd grade.  I won't have to wear glasses for distance, only reading.  What a difference this has made already.
For today, I would like to share one of the things I love to make for holiday gift giving.
Christmas Ornaments
Christmas Stockings by Little Bits.  These are paper pieced.

Gingerbread  boys and bells out of different size yo yo's.

Miniature tree ornaments, just like the decorative tree napkin. The other ornament is the Fabric Folded Ornament.  A simple circle makes this cute ornament.

There are embroidered mittens, printed ornaments from Chicadeehollowdesigns.com to embroider, and a Santa from Sew Unique Creations made from felt.

The Santa on the left, on the tree, is from Pinwheelponders.blogspot.com from 2009.
The other is a Log Cabin Santa, Folded Ornament from 1988.  Don't even know if that one is still around.  The angel was a pattern someone gave me, but it does not have any information on where it is from.

There are any number of patterns out there.  Right after Christmas, while I still have my fabric out, I start making more or new ones for the next year.  The wool and embroidery one I work on during the year. I have project bags that I can keep ornaments in to work on.

I wrote a post Monday about some of the fun things I love to make, and will share a few more as the week goes on.  I have always done crafty things, and sewn since I was a little girl, so this hop was right up my alley.
I hope you are enjoying all the clever and creative ideas everyone has has been sharing.  I know I am ready to get more fabric out and add to my gift stash.
Thank you for stopping by.

Wow, I'm impressed that you could be stitching at all after your surgery; way to go - kudos to Beam n Read. I make (sometimes buy) ornaments for the grands each year and I saw so many neat ideas on your tree. Pauline outdid herself with the package of goodies - I noticed the lovely crocheted edge of the towel on Quilt n Queen - just lovely.
