A few of my favorite gift ideas

The hop we are having right now is all about sharing gifts.
Marlene of StitchnByTheLake and Madam Samm of SewWeQuilt have been our elves for this fun "T'was the Night" hop.  We were to make a gift and send it to the person next on the list below our own blog.
We have been having fun seeing all the wonderful ideas everyone has.
As I love to do crafty projects along with my quilting I thought I would share with you some of the fun things I like to make.

This first pattern is called "Time for Tea".  It is a pattern I found at a quilt shop in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Attic Window Quilt Shop. It has a  stamp on it "Just for you" patterns, Moda University.  I have made these for every season or holiday.

I so enjoyed making these little baskets, (can you tell).  This pattern was from Thimbleberries, from the club running in 2008.  This is another pattern that can fit any season or holiday, A cute little table topper.

This one was call "Slice of Life Organizer" and was also from Thimbleberries Club of 2005.  It is the perfect notebook holder for a class.  It has a couple of compartments, where I always include a 6 inch ruler and a pen.

There is the ever popular pincushion.  Several of there are from purchased patterns.  The pumpkin is a Madam Samm original. If you can't work with wool, any one of these can be made with regular cotton fabric.  On the basket one, I used a few of the fun buttons I collect.

Notebooks are another great idea.  I have patterns from Indigo Junction, This & That, and Washboard Quilts. The composition books that kids need for school, you can pick up after school starts for $.50.  You can use a variety of things for the covers.  Orphan blocks, patchwork and then embellish with rick rack, buttons, and  crocheted items.  You can use oil cloth, regular cotton fabric, or even linen. I have even used, salvages to make them. Just about anything goes for the covers. How about a theme fabric.  I even have a supply of fabric that has sewing as the theme.

There embroidered dish towels.  There are a lot of free patterns that you can use for a dish towel.

There are so many little extras you can add to go with you handmade gift.
I do keep a stash of handmade gifts that can serve for just about any occasion.
Stay tuned.  I will be back with a few more.
