Country Roads

We love to take the back way home.  On our way home from Michigan, Ron had found out about a road south of Grand Rapids on the way to Holland, Michigan.  I saw a sign that said, pick your own flowers 1/2 mile north.   I just had to check it out. prettypetalsjamestown.blogspot.com The Kuipers family is in Byron Center, Michgan.

This is what we found.  A do it yourself bouquet.  This family had set everything up on the honor system.  Flowers were $.20 a stem.  They provided clippers, vases, and bows, for creating your bouquet, or you could just put them in a can.  The water facet was right there.

I was like a kid in a candy store!  I love, love, zinnias.  They are my favorite summer flower.

Here is what the garden looked light from the road.
Can you believe all the zinnias??

Zinnias and cosmos.

The biggest display of zinnias I have ever seen, and some plants were as tall as me!
Do love them.

Here is the bouquet I brought home. 20 of the prettiest flowers.

Have a great day.

Mary

What a neat idea for this family to do that. Make your own bouquet and use the honor system. I love that! It makes me think of old times when people trusted other people. What a beautiful garden too. Your bouquet turned out wonderful. Lovely.

How lovely to find such a place. The flowers are beautiful. I hope people do not take advantage of the trust shown by the owners.

Lovely bouquet. It's nice to know the honor system is alive and well out there somewhere. 8)

I have to ask about your previous post. Does AQS not allow you to post any quilt pictures at all or do they just require really rigorous attribution; that is, the name of the quilt and every individual who worked on it? Information you might not have if you didn't know about the requirements in advance. I ask because that is how it is at the Houston and Dallas shows. They're very particular about correct attribution. I normally took an extra shot of the info sheet for each quilt I photographed just so I could find it later in the guidebook. It takes FOREVER to get attribution just right on the blog. I always intended to post more pictures than I ended up posting for just that reason. I was often lucky enough to get a picture of the quilt artist with her or his winning quilt; it would be rotten to not be able to post that.

Just curious,
