On the road again!

It was family reunion time in New York.  We left on Tuesday of last week and drove straight through to Buffalo, New York. While there we got to see Ron's Mom, and his brother Dave.  His Dad had driven up from Florida, and his sister, flew in from Texas.  We were all going to be meeting up again in Cooperstown, New York for a wedding.  We got to spend a couple of days here visiting other relatives before starting the next part of our journey.  Our son flew in Thursday night and would be able to travel with us.

In East Aurora there is TheSinking Pond.  Rumor has it that there is quicksand somewhere in that area.  Ron was good enough to pose for me where the parking lot is.  We did take a trail that winds around the pond looking for wildlife.  We found a group of women out for a walk instead!

It actually was a beautiful area. There are a lot of old tree trunks rotting in the water.

In the countryside we came upon a lot of deer and fawns.  The most exciting was finding this 8 point buck and his harem.  There were 11 females and fawns. I had never seen anything like this before.

In the town of East Aurora, there is a wonderful old fashioned five and dime. The family that owns it, has a last name of Vidler.  This is "Vider on the Roof".

On the way to Cooperstown we passed through a cute town of Flycreek, and look what was here, a quilt shop.  I got about 15 minutes of checking it out. (15 minutes is better then no minutes)

Also, in Fly Creek, was a great cider mill and orchard.  We all enjoyed our first taste of apple cider of the season. It was oh so good.

Here is the Otesaga Hotel, on Otsego Lake in Cooperstown, New York. This is where the wedding was on Sunday. Yes, Cooperstown is the home of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
The Glimmerglass Queen on Otsego Lake.  We got to take a boat ride the afternoon we arrived.

More to come tomorrow.  We had the best weather while we were gone. You know it is always good to be back home. Now on to more laundry and sorting through the things I did bring home.

Have a great evening,

Mary

Love Of Quilts said...

I see you have had a few adventures that I have been missing. I was wondering why you couldn't show the quilts. I love seeing quilts and what a same they didn't want them shown. Lots of nice photos. Have a nice weekend.
