I won a blue ribbon!!

This morning when I went to the Pride of the Prairie Quilt Show, I had the surprise of my life.  I received a blue ribbon in the Children's Bed Quilt.  I did not figure I had a chance .  I helped hang the show last night, and when I saw all the beautiful quilts, I never dreamed there was a chance.  I called my husband to let him know, and when he answered, knew I was crying, and thought I had been in an accident.   Wow, I still can't believe it.

This is my Farmer's Wife that I entered.

Apron Strings

Mary Mary Quite Contrary.  This was a quilt where I started the center in a class by Mary Stori.  She was showing us applique and other techniques.  It got put aside for a while.  When Barb Vlack was going to teach a borders class, I decided to use the center panel I had started.  I do love to embellish, and there are lots of things on this quilt.

Sun Bonnet Sue. I think I could still put more embellishments on this one.  Does not seem to have quite enough!

Here is a prize winner in the small quilt category.  Love the Yo Yo's.

This was so pretty, I am sorry, I don't know who made some of these quilts.

I think this one won too, but the ribbon had not been put on it when I took the picture.  It is "Thimbles".  It is the tumbler block, only thimble size!  Oh, it is a full size quilt, too.

Again, this one had a ribbon, but it was not put on until later.  Even when I left, not all the ribbons had been placed on quilts.
My friend Kathy Wall did this one. She won a second place ribbon.  It is gorgeous, all done in wool.

My friend Lisa Benson, made this "Stitcher's Garden".  This is so pretty.  I think she even taught how to do this at one of the quilt shops.
The only Dear Jane.  It is beautiful.
Joyce Kolbe made this Civil War quilt.  There are pictures in the center of each of the squares.

Linda Kennedy made this one call Abundance.  The quilting was gorgeous on it.
Here is another winner. It is wool and cotton.  The circles were perfect.

These are all the pictures I got.  They were still handing out awards when I left.
I needed to get home, I still have packing to do!!
Okay, I am not the most organized when it comes to packing.  I have done this so many times, I pretty much know what I will be putting in the suitcase.  Ron and I picked up Dad about 4:00. His suitcase was already in the lobby. This said it had been there since 7: a m. I think he is excited to be going.

I better be getting myself.  I still need to put a few things in my suitcase, and oh yes, we have to change the clocks tonight.  Spring ahead.  I need to get to bed early.

Have a great 12 days. If I can write while I am gone I will let you know about the trip. You may have to wait until I get back.  Keep sewing and quilting.

Mary

Congratulations, Mary! I love the soft colors in your quilt and the way you set your rows with the small squares. Will have to consider that for the row robin I'm participating in now. I loved seeing the quilts in the show, too. Have a wonderful trip.
