AQS - Grand Rapids, Michigan

Thursday morning, Ron and I drove over to Grand Rapids to attend the AQS show and meet up with some friends.

Met up with Pat, Nancy, and Judy, quilting buddies from Michigan.  We had a great time catching up on our quilting adventures.  Notice something missing?  I took pictures of quilts, that I found out I cannot display on my blog, and took no pictures of my friends.  Boy did I mess up!

The quilts on exhibit were wonderful. So many creative ideas. There were a lot of wonderful vendors.  It was great to see some of the quilt shops Michigan has to offer.

The next show times for AQS.  It was easier to take a picture, then to find a pen and paper to write it down.

My husband picked us up to go out to dinner.  He had met up with a couple of old college buddies for lunch and catching up.  We went to B.O.B.  "Big Old Building"  There were several restaurants in the building.  We had a super dinner and were able to catch up more. We took them back to their hotel, and went on to ours. We were just staying for the night. Home on Friday to get ready for our next adventure.

Thank you for stopping by. Happy sewing.

Tuesday therapy

My friend Linda asked if I would be interested in some quilting therapy. On Tuesday we met at her house to begin a new project.  Each time we have the chance to get together we are going to work on it.  It is from the Moda Bakeshop and is called "Fairy Tails Sailboats."

Part of it is paper pieced.  Linda had the pattern ready for us to work on.  I was able to do the paper piecing for 4 boats.  Still have the sails to add.

I am working out of my comfort zone.  I had this pile of batiks that were just waiting for a project.  I am going to use it! I think this was a bundle I had purchased in Colorado several years ago.

Have a great weekend. Happy sewing.

Bowls with Borders!

I hope everyone is having a "bowl-ing" good time! The Bowls that are turning up are absolutely fabulous. Here is the schedule for the rest of the hop: August 19th
Cool Crafty Mom

August 25th

I cannot get over how innovative everyone has been with Regina's pattern.  WOW!!!  There are so many wonderful "Bowls" so far, and more to come.

Thank you for all the wonderful compliments I received for my bowls.  My husband was quite the cheerleader for me.  Each time I showed him my progress, he would cheer me on. Then to have Madamne Samm chose mine as a winner for the day, just blew me away.  I really enjoyed this blog hop. I think there may be more in my future.

Today is my catchup day.  Thursday, my husband and I are driving to Grand Rapids, Michigan for the AQS quilt show. Well, Ron is meeting a former college friend for lunch and catchup, and I am meeting friends to see the show. We are staying overnight, then back home. I'll have photos to share.

Have a great week, and don't forget to check out the "bowls."

Bowls with Borders Day 4

Good Morning," Happy Bowls with Borders Blog Hoppers!"

It is my day to show what I created with Regina Grewe's adorable paper pieced pattern.
First up is Halloween Bowls.
This one measures 9 1/4 x 19.  I have had these Halloween fabrics for a long time and decided they were just begging to be used. It was a lot of fun creating this one.

Here is a closeup of the top.

and the bottom.

I am one of those persons that say if one project is good, how about 2. So, using the same theme, Halloween, more fabric came out of the container.  The black strip around the edge is ribbon and again I used more Halloween buttons for accents. I could envision ghosts drifting on the steam coming from the bowls.
This one I enlarged the pattern to 125%, which gave more space to show off the fabrics. By enlarging the pattern, it became 11 x 29 1/2.

and bottom.
If there are two, why not three!  This time I changed the theme to fun and bright,  polka dots and checks. This one was a lot of fun and turned out to be 10 1/2 x25.

Bottom

and top.

Here they are.  I am so pleased with how each turned out.  I love paper piecing.  I have been working on some of Regina's other patterns.  They are very easy to work with.

Now lets hear it for our cheerleaders, Carol at "Just let me Quilt", and Madame Samm of "Sew We Quilt".
This is the first time I have been part of a blog hop, and it is so much fun.  Our cheerleaders, Carol and Madame Samm do a great job.  Keep checking out the sites, This is the biggest blog hop ever. Join the fun and see all the wonderful creations!

Have a great rest of the week!

Little Houses

Here they are, my houses from scraps. I worked on these this past week. I think all is catching up with me. I had let so many things go, (like house cleaning) the past few months, that it is time to try to get back into the swing of things. Dad's apartment has been cleaned out, and a lot of it is sitting in our garage.  Now to sort through it.  I will make up a box for each of the 4 grandson's, and my sister of things that should be sent to them. There is a lot of paperwork to be taken care of.

Thank you to all who sent such kind words and prayers. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate it.  It so nice to know of the caring among quilters and friends. Sewing is what has helped these past few months. Thank you.

Have a great week. Stay cool or warm, and Sew On!
