Happy Mother's Day

We had a Robin build a nest over the lamp on our front porch.
It was pretty amazing how quickly she build the nest, and how she goes about it.

We had checked out and saw four eggs, and thought all 4 had hatched.  We know 3 for sure did.  I will have to get a taller ladder to be sure.

We have had 3 Owletts hatch in an old tree in Geneva.  This picture was taken last weekend  You can see how big.  One always seems to be the showoff.

Mom Great Horned Owl, watching all the people that have come to admire her family.

The nest of a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher.  Mom was in the area.

Nest of a Red-winged Blackbird.  If you look close you can see she is on the nest.

Mom is doing a great job of feeding her brood.

Little showoffs.

Swimming lesson was over, time to take a snooze and rest up for the next lesson.

I am ready for my closeup!

On Friday they launched.
Two stayed near by, and one got more adventurous.  He flew across the street.
Mom was still in command.  She brought worms and continues to feed them.

It is amazing how quickly they grow, from the time they hatch to when they fly from the nest.

This little one was trying to get up where the other one was sitting.
Mother Nature at her finest.

Happy Mother's Day to all.
Mary

what a treat to watch these little ones growing and the photos are so clear. The swifts arrived here yesterday earlier than usual, wondering if they will nest in my roof space again

They really do grow SO fast. lol Being a bird mommy is an intense, but very short, commitment. We had a dove raise a chick in a hanging planter once. She was so religious about staying there that I fed her twice in the planter. She was startled but ate faster than any other dove I've ever seen. I don't think you're supposed to do that though. I really enjoy your pictures!

Happy Mother's Day,

We spend a lot of time watching the birds that we try so hard to attract. Those darned robins make a nest in the most insane places. Just last weekend one fell to the ground. We were able to put it back in place and the parents are feeding the babies. I keep watching and hope none were injured in the fall.
