Blizzard 2-2-2011

Good Morning all. We are part of the "Great Blizzard of 2011". We live about 30 miles west of Chicago and this is what we woke up to this morning. The birds are trying to enjoy the seed. The wind keeps knocking it out of the feeders for them. The news is saying we are to 19.5 inches of snow. They are ranking this snowfall at #3 in total at one time. There is a lot of blowing and drifting going on. Some of our neighbors are starting to dig out. Kitty is hoping we do soon! She cannot see out. The drifting in the back of the house is taller then she is. She likes to sit at the window and watch the birds feed. (She stays inside all the time.)

This is looking out our back. The front I can't take pictures of yet, as the snow is stuck between the screens and the windows. The front door is drifted shut, and our neighbors across the street have drifts half way up their garage doors. We had thundersnow last night, too. Lightening and then the sound of thunder. It was a strange effect. I can see Route 34 from my window by the computer, and there is a car of two that goes by. There is times still when it is almost a whiteout. We are warm and have plenty of supplies. We will try to go out later and use the snowblower. Itwill be a great day to "SEW". We were all well prepared for the storm. The sun is trying to come out. It has brightened up considerably.
Tomorrow is to be the first day of a quilt retreat. It is out in the country at Dickson Valley Farm. Guess I will start the retreat here at home today!!!!

Yep, we got the same stuff. My yard looked like that too. I keep telling myself to be thankful, now I have all this time to sew! Stay warm!
