August in a Nutshell

What a month!! Started out by going to Victor, New York for the "Baker Family Reunion". It was held at Kathy and Kurt's home. There was lot of family and food. They have a pool, so the "kids" had a grand time. It was a great day to be in the water. The whole time in, Elma, East Aurora, I was trying beef on wick. The best beef sandwich. Some places make it way better then others. Ron had to get his hotdogs, and even found cherry pop this time. I got to check out a few quilt shops in the area too.

July 30 to August 6, 2009

On our way back from Victor, we drove through Letchworth State Park, in Castile, New York. The waterfalls were gorgeous. It started out raining that morning, but turned into a beautiful day. The area was so neat. There are a lot of hills and valleys and very scenic views. The flowers in the gardens were so pretty. They had had a lot more rain then we have. Had to make our run to Vidler's in East Aurora. It is the best five and dime store ever.
T They had just installed a statue of one of the Vidler brothers on the roof. "Vidler's on the Roof." It was really cute. They are fixing all the main streets in East Aurora. The Fisher Price Toy Museum was not there. I checked and they said they will be relocating. Fisher Price was always the biggest business there.

On Monday evening the 4th we had dinner at the Winegar's. They were celebrating the engagement of Scott. Aunt Betty and Edie were there too. Mattie is a cutie. Andy and her got along well. Took a picture to show the size difference of Andy and Edie. Talk about Mutt and Jeff. It was a fun evening. It is always good to catch up.
On Sunday evening after we had gotten back we had dinner at Jean Baker's new home. Bonnie and Kerri, Tom and Lyn, and Andy, Ron and I all visited. Shane and Matt were there. It was great to see Jean. She had a very nice new home. Shane is going into the Marines and Matt is going to dental school.

It was a good week. We left Wednesday morning to travel on to Middlebury, Indiana. The Quilt Garden Tour and a quilt show was on. We got to see all the gardens and mural but one this time. Ron had made reservations to stay at the Patchwork Quilt Country Inn. It was very nice. The Inn had changed ownership this year. Our room was so comfortable. They served breakfast. There were a pair of kittens that grabbed our attention. One even tried to climb up the screen of our window. On Thursday we went to the quilt show. Small, but nice. It is so nice driving through the countryside. Horse and buggy, and cars. Had to check out Yoder's too.

We arrived home on Thursday evening. Fell into bed. So tired. Then on Friday we had to go to lawyer's to sign the papers to sell our house in Roselle. The actual closing was not until the 14th, but we could sign our papers as we were the seller. Took one last look of the old home. I thought I would be ok, but did shed a tear. Afterall it was the first house for Ron and I and where Andy grew up. Lots of memories there.
