White American Pelicans

Ok, the small picture isn't mine, but the rest are. Only thing, we are way far away from them. In the binoculars you could see them really good. These are the White American Pelicans. We were on our way home from Sycamore. Dad was with us. We stopped at a park that has been known to have the pelicans stop on their migration. This was one of the coolest things to see. There had been an article in one of the papers a couple of years ago that they could be seen here, on their flight North. We had stopped before around this time of the year, but had not seen them Today we came down the road the pond is on, and saw the white spots and wondered what they were. WOW! I wish I had had a better camera to take a great picture. I tried. I can't get over that we got to see these birds. While we were there, a gentleman came with his binoculars and told us a few other things. Then he spotted several flocks of Sandhill Cranes flying by. We could see them with our binoculars. Also, told us that he had seen Bald Eagles on the Fox River by Batavia. It is amazing what driving down the back roads can produce. We had also seen the Buffalo, at the Long Grove Buffalo Ranch on Perry Road.
