Tuffet, tuffet, who claims the tuffet

I finally got the opportunity to take a class to make a tuffet.
I have been seeing these in quilt shops all around and was intrigued with the
idea to make one.  If you google them online, you can see all sorts of variations
and ideas of fabrics to use.
Quilters Quest in Woodridge, offered the class.  It was a two week class.
The first week you made the covering and the second week you put
it all together.
Let me tell you, it was a lot of fun.
The amazing thing is all the tuffets are made the same, but all end up different.

Here our teacher, Carol Wilhoit is showing us how to add the button that is in the middle.

Here is one ready for her button.
Love the all red and white one.

Finding the middle.

Pulling the button tight.
The bright colored batiks is Carol's finished tuffet.
The one she is working on, was made with Dowton Abbey fabric.

Look at this one, it is all 30's fabrics and each strip is different.

This lady used scraps from previous quilts she has made.
She said she does not have a stash to pull from. I would
say she did a great job on the colors she used.

Here we have red, yellow and orange batiks.

A variety of brown and beige batiks.

Charlie and Princess had to check it out.
Did it smell like another cat?

Here is the picture of all of us in the class with our "finished" tuffets.
I have to say going home with a finished project is so nice.
It is not a UFO in waiting.
Charlie won!!!
He was the first to claim it.
Ron and Andrew said Princess claimed it later in the night.
I love it, and the process was not hard at all.
I am going to make another.
Carol asked each of us if we would make another, and everyone said yes!
I would love a 30's one, then how about one in Japanese fabric.  I wonder if I have enough
old ties from my Dad, Ron and Andrew.  Just a few thoughts.
They are just too cute.

I hope everyone is having a good week.
I know I have been missing in action for the past month.
I was on vacation to Florida and on a cruise.  I will write about them soon.
I took a lot of pictures and am still going through them.
It was a great vacation with a lot of stops and happy adventures.
More adventures are coming up.

loving the tuffets, putting the button on needed an extra long needle that must have been tricky to do, they are all great and the knobs on the bottom give them such a professional finish
