Then and Now

Today our bee "Prairie Friends" had our annual Christmas Party,
at The Grumpy Goat in Elgin.
What a wonderful time we had.
Our lunch was delicious, but I have to say the company was was even better.
Marcia was our hostess. She made the reservations and planned our day.
Instead of exchanging Christmas gifts, we each were asked to bring
Scarves, gloves and hats to be donated to the women and children
at the Community Crisis Center in Elgin.
This was a great idea, and we all donated.

When we can all get together, we like to get a group picture.
Marcia surprised us all with photos from the past.

This was all of us in 2010,

Here we are in 1989.

This is us in 1990
The quilt behind us was made by us for the St Joseph Hospital Maternity Unit in Elgin.

Here is a picture of our newest member and her adorable little girl.
We made the quilt they are sitting on.

Here we are today.
I think we are all looking pretty good considering the 26 years that have passed.
The hair styles have changed
a bit through the years. There have been some of our friends that have moved and no longer part of our monthly bee and
we have gained new friends..  As Linda said today, we are our own family.  We have been there for each other. We have always kept our number at 10, with the thought that we could all fit in someones home easily.
Through the years we have gone to quilt conferences, we stay at a hotel one weekend a year to sew and enjoy each
others company.  We have made  charity quilts and even a couple of raffle quilts that we donated to
the one guild that most of us belong to. We have shared ideas and motivated each other.
We are like sisters, but with different Mother's.
Merry Christmas to all of us, along with a Wonderful New Year.

Mary

how good that the group is still going so successfully and I can see you are all in tune with each other. I am sure the hat, scarfs etc will be greatly appreciated.
