Racine quilt retreat

Okay, I am a little slow in updating my goings one.
In September I did get to have my week of getting away at the
Siena Retreat center in Racine, Wisconsin.
We had one of the most perfect weeks.
The weather was gorgeous, the friendships perfect, the projects that we accomplished
wonderful.  This is the perfect place for getting things done.

There are a couple of ladies that are making Lucy Boston blocks.
They are amazing!

The scenery, as always beautiful.
The sky and water was some of the prettiest shades of blue.

My work area.
Kathy, our coordinator, used to own a scrapbooking store.  Well, she puts her talents to
great use.  She had fun things for us each day.  Our first day was this darling frame,
all decked out in old buttons.  The frame had a great quilt  saying in it.

One down, how many more to go????

Two down, how many more?

Three

Help!!  should the black strip be put in to rest the eye???

Another one.  Don't you love the colors??

This is what I worked on all week!
I had started this quilt on the quilt cruise I was on last year.
Only 4 blocks were done at that time.
I was busy and made 26 more.  The blocks are done,
I stopped to have a bit of play time.  (I stopped on Friday)

Everyone was loving our daily treats.
I had taken up a box of vintage linens that I wanted to find new homes for.
Well lots of the ladies that it would be fun to make little set ups to show off
our treasures.  Kathy, had all sorts of fun things for us.
There was a new daily quilt quote. Fabric lollipops, pins for our bobbins.
I swear she thought of everything.

Creativity abounds.

Don't you love it?

Mini sewing areas.

Funny, this lady reminded me of my Mom when she was first married.

Prizes!!  Everyone loves to collect rocks to take home.
I swear, we all love to have a piece of the lake shore in our yards.

Another project down!
Not mine, I only worked on that pineapple quilt!!!

Check out this one.  It was found on e-bay and Kathy finished it up.

Let's see, how many are we up to?

Great I Spy quilt.

Another one.

The scenery is always spectacular.
At sunset, the moon was just coming out.

One more walk up the trail.

Our last morning.
Have to get one more fix by the lake.

One of the best prizes.
Sea Glass.  This piece is perfect.
Check out how big and just like an egg.

My haul of sea glass.
Why is it I could find some of the tiniest pieces in the sand,
but cannot find a needle or pin in the carpet when I drop one???

As I said, a lot of us take a bit of the shore line of Lake Michigan home with us.

As always, it was a fabulous week.  The dates for next spring and fall are
already on the books.
This is the best place to get projects done.  As you see, a lot of quilts tops were finished,
and a lot more worked on.  I did not get pictures of everyone of the quilts.
All I can say is there are some amazing quilters in our group.

I hope you have the opportunity to spend time with
wonderful friends and sew.

Sewing wishes.
Mary

What a quilt show! There are some real beauties there. I can't wait to see your pineapple finished. Great colors Mary. The photos by the lake are gorgeous. The egg of sea glass is such a treasure. I hope to find one of those someday. Looks like the perfect place to retreat to.
