Honolulu and Waikiki

We arrived in Honolulu on Oct 31, Halloween. The airport is below.  It is a long flight, a bit over 9 hours non-stop.

First stop, Hilo Hattie's!

The view from our hotel.  That is Diamond Head in the background.

Our first Hawaiian sunset.

Because it is Halloween, the characters were out in droves.  Everywhere and I think just about everyone was dressed for Halloween.  People were getting pictures taken with all sorts of characters.

I have to say this was one of the most creative costumes I saw.  He was in a bed! He could open the sheet on the side, and anyone could step in.  Pictures were being taken as fast as he could open the sheet!

This young box and his sister were pretty interesting.  He was in traditional Hawaiian clothing and she was a fairy princess.
Halloween is a big thing in the islands.  Everyone participates.  There are contests, and lots of treats. All the stores participate by handing out treats.  A lot of the clerks are dressed up as well.  Visitors, tourists are dressed up as well.  It is one big party, that lasts into the night!
We are here for a couple of days, then on to Maui.

My sister and her husband flew in later the same day.  On Saturday, we flew to Maui, and Linda and Jim went on a cruise around the islands.
More to come.
